If you don't have a plan, you will not get anywhere. It's like taking a trip without a destination or a map.

I have been reading a lot about how some of the most successful  people got to where they are and how they stay on top. It did not happen by chance. Not one of them was handed the key to the kingdom. They all had to work hard at it, planning, analyzing and planning again. 

They also take a really hard look at what they did, the good and the bad. They learn from it and  re-evaluate the direction they are heading. Sometimes they stop and change directions and sometimes they realize it's not worth the trip.

The one thing about each and everyone of them is that they are honest with themselves. This does not mean they beat themselves up. What they do is recognize what is working and look for ways to make it better, and seek to correct the things that are not working or making it to the goal.

Measuring Success

How do you measure your success?

How do you know you are making it toward your goal?  If you are looking to get rid of the weight, are you looking for your clothes to be loose? The numbers on the scale to be lower? If you are looking to be more confident, is it the way you stand or the way you now look in people's eyes when speaking?

What is it that shows you are heading in the right direction to acheive your resolutions?

How will you measure your success?

When working with my clients, we make noticeable changes, and we do it step by step.

So many times, people will have unrealistic expectations for their goals & new year resolutions. For example, when people want to lose weight, they will look at the total number of pounds they want to lose.When the scale doesn't move 30 pounds, they get discouraged. 

What if we made the goals week by week or month by month?  You did not gain 30 pounds in 30 days, and if you did, call a doctor now! So why do you think that miraculously you will lose 30 pounds in a month? That is not a real goal -that is a wish! Break it down to a six month or a one year goal. If you take 30 pounds divided by six you get 5 pounds per month. Now that is a very achievable goal!

Write it down, make a vision board. Look at it every day!
This is your road map to success; make sure you're on the right path.

When you write down your new year resolutions, it makes them real. When you read them every day, it makes them yours! 

A vision board will also help you to see where you want to be. A vision board is just cardboard with pictures or words on it to help motivate you. If you are looking to lose the weight, get a picture up there showing you thinner and happy.If you want to be more confident, show a picture of people listening to a speaker smiling. If you want to stop smoking, pick a picture of health. Choose positive words to continue to help you move closer to the goal every day. You will need the vision board to help you when you are not feeling so good about yourself. This is what makes winners winners and losers quitters!

Review your goals every day. This makes it real!
